Arturo Vidal updates on his Barcelona future ahead of the New Year
Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal has refused to speak on his future with Barcelona ahead of the New Year. The Chile international has been used sparingly from the starting lineup at the Blaugrana and there have been claims that he could head through the exit door in January amid his mixed relationship with manager Ernesto Valverde.
Speaking on his winter break, Vidal did not reveal anything with regards to his future and said that his agent will handle the situation. He added that he is happy and commitment to the Spanish champions despite enduring a frustrated period, where he has often found himself on the substitutes’ bench.
“My sale? I’m not thinking about it, even less now that I’m on holiday. My agent is handling it. I’m super calm and happy at Barcelona, then we’ll see when I get back. It’s not me who decides whether or not to play and, in any case, I will always help Barcelona. And people know my value, that makes me calm,” he told.
The former Juventus man has been touted for a possible move to Inter Milan in the Serie A and reports have emerged that the Nerazzurri have already made contact with the player’s representative. The Nerazzurri are currently leading the Serie A standings ahead of Juventus on goal difference and manager Antonio Conte is hoping to strengthen the midfield department further ahead of what could be a tough test of their title credentials.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have also been associated with a move for the Chilean with agent Fernando Felicevich, having previously brokered the deal for compatriot Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal. Sanchez’s move, however, proved unsuccessful and it remains to be seen whether the midfielder is tempted to join the Red Devils, who are only competing in the Europa League this term.
