Barcelona forward Lionel Messi urges for calm with young graduate Ansu Fati

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi believes the club should handle Ansu Fati’s progress in such a way that he is not pressurised to perform. The 16-year-old made his debut for the Catalan giants earlier this season and he has already made a mark with a couple of goals against Osasuna and Valencia while starting the Champions League clash at Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking to FIFA.com, Messi said that he is a huge admirer of the youngster’s talents and believes the teenager has the credentials to be one of the best in the future. However, he has urged for a sense of calm with Fati and believes the young forward should enjoy being on the field without the pressure of expectations on his shoulders.
"I really like him and I try to help and support him. He’s an amazing player and he’s got what it takes to succeed. But if I look at it through my eyes, I’d like them to bring him on gradually, like they did with me when I started, taking things nice and easy and without putting pressure on him. You have to remember that he’s only 16. I hope he keeps on enjoying it and that all the fuss around him doesn’t have a negative impact on him because he has the quality to become one of the best," he told.

Meanwhile, Messi has experienced a difficult beginning to the campaign with the Blaugrana. The Argentine only made a comeback from a calf problem this month but it seems that he could be sidelined once more after suffering an adductor injury. That has partly contributed to the Catalan giants’ indifferent start to the season and they are currently three points off the top of the league table. Barcelona are scheduled to face Getafe on the road this weekend. They will be eyeing their first away triumph of the season, having previously managed one point from three outings.
