Barcelona May Strengthen in January, says Luis Enrique
Luis Enrique says that there is a good possibility of Barcelona being in the market for some couple of players during the January transfer window.
The club has been decimated by injuries in recent times, while the transfer window freeze upon the club has also affected their chances of improving the squad as they would have liked. Despite being the dominant in the league and Europe, Barcelona are aware that the team has issues with regard to squad strength. The club may struggle to have the same kind of results if they encounter a couple of injuries.
Keen to address this element, Barcelona have been linked with Valencia defender Joao Cancelo. Since moving to the Spanish club in the summer of 2015 for around €15 million,Cancelo has been one of the better players at the club. The Portuguese was recently rewarded for his good performances with Valencia by an international debut. He has already gone on to make three appearances for the national team, while scoring an incredible three in the process. It is clear that Barcelona miss the presence of Dani Alves in the right side of the defence. The attacking thrust provided by the Brazilian has not been replaced yet, but Cancelo may just be the answer.
"I'm not going to be very original and I will stay to you the same phrase I've been saying for two years or so.
Barcelona are open to improving and to the transfer market. If there is anything interesting that coincides with our interests at an adequate price, we will always be open, independent of whether we need it more or less," said Enrique. The Barcelona manager witnessed his team suffered a 3-1 collapse against Manchester City with all three goals conceded coming in the second half. The team’s next match is against Sevilla away from home.
