Former Barca President Laporta fears that Messi will leave Barca

Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta is concerned that Lionel Messiwill leave the club. He is scared that the player will decide to leave due to the current issues in the board of the club. His current contract with the club will end in2021 but the chance of extension seems impossible as his relationship with the current president Maria Bartomeuisn’t on good terms. Even though Bartomeu has reassured that Messi will not be leaving the club and will surely extend the contract with Barca, Laporta is not convinced by this.

Laporta is looking forward to giving another chance at Barca as he is considering to run in for thepresidentialelection again. He has also warned Xavi on returning to Barca as the manager saying that if he was Xavi he would never return back to the club.Bartomeu hasrecently said that Xavi will be returning to Barca sooner or later. Laporta himself is in doubts whether he should run for the elections or not.

"Every day I have more desire to take part in the election. Some concrete conditions are needed for me to feel comfortable to run right now rather than resist for a few more years."
In a talk in May, he has strongly expressed his desire to bring back the club on track. He has said that he will very much be happy to have Pep Guardiola back on the team. He is currently working for Manchester City and it’s Guardiola’s decision whether he will be back or not. Many of the Barca fans will be happy to have him back on the team as under Guardiola the club had an exceptional year.
Laporta has said then he is excited to be back on to be the president and this will be his second spell. He will be working with people he will trust and surely will be looking forward to reversing the situation.
