Gerard Pique may leave Camp Nou soon
The Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique has started to think about leaving Camp Nou after being overlooked by the club management for the previous three games.
The sources say that the Spaniard is not too amused by the way the man in charge, Luis Enrique, has dealt with him.
The last time that Pique had played for Barcelona was versus Espanyol towards the end of October.
He had found the net playing in the first half of that game, but, he had been taken off during the break and later on, on the television, he was shown using cell phone while being on bench.
The Catalan Giants strictly prohibit the players to have the access of cell phones in the duration of the game. So, it was a clear breakage of rules.
Barcelona had to play against Celta Vigo next and Pique was not named even in the squad for that game.
He watched it from the spectators’ area. He had his ex-teammate Carlos Puyol accompanying him there.
Pique was then called back in the squad for the next game which was against the Dutch club Ajax, but, he was not sent onto the ground. He spent the entire time sitting on the sidelines.
The same happened to him versus Almeria as well last weekend. He again remained one of the unused substitutes.
There were a few reports in the newspapers yesterday that in Barcelona’s last training session, Pique told his defending partner Dani Alves that he had quite a few enemies at the club.
On Monday, Luis Enrique had also refused to make any statement on Pique’s situation.
However, ahead of the match versus Almeria, Enrique was quoted as saying, “Gerard is leaving no stone unturned for being in the starting line up again.”
Pique has scored a total of 12 goals for Barcelona in 170 La Liga matches.
