NO TRUTH IN RUMOURS

The Barcelona striker Alexis Sanchez has claimed that there is no truth in the transfer rumours that he is about to leave the club in the January transfer window in search of regular first-team football. The former Udinese striker arrived at the club during the reign of Guardiola and was a regular for the throughout last season.

He was involved in both the semifinals against the European champions Chelsea, but he has been marginalised a lot in this new season by the current manager Tito Vilanova. He has managed just six league appearances as a starter this season, which have led to rumours that he will be sold in January.

The 24-year-old Chilean winger is extremely keen on qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup with his national team. There have been rumours that are not playing regularly for Barcelona will hurt his chances of making it into the Chilean squad. The player, though, has rejected speculation that he is happy at the club, despite rumours linking him with a move to Italian club Juventus. Sanchez made his name with the Italian club Udinese before moving to Barcelona in a £ 35 million deal only 18 months ago. Even though the player did not win the major titles like the league and the Champions League, he had success in other tournaments with Barcelona last season.

"I am doing well. I have been playing important games for the first team and they consider me a first-team player, so I am calm. I have to keep working at Barcelona to win titles," said the 24-year-old in a recent interview. Barcelona have made a stunning start to the new la Liga season by winning 16 out of the 17 matches. This incredible form has helped them open a nine point advantage at the top of the table.
