INIESTA ON SONG

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has said that he is extremely satisfied that the club are being linked with a player like the Arsenal midfielder Alex Song.

The Cameroon international has become a major transfer target for the Spanish club as they are looking forward to bringing in a replacement for Sergio Busquets. Sergio Busquets is one of the recognised defensive midfielders at the club, but it is thought that the new manager at the club will want to have another option in this area of the pitch. The 24-year-old Alex Song has come on leaps and bounds in the last two seasons after striking a great partnership with the striker Robin van Persie.

Alex Song has been responsible for most of goals scored by Robin van Persie this season, which is a surprise given that the Cameroon international largely plays as a defensive midfielder. In reaction to the transfer rumours linking the Cameroon international with the move to the camp Nou, the Barcelona midfielder Iniesta said that he would welcome the addition of such a player. Song is rated at £ 15 million by Arsenal. It is estimated that the Spanish club will be coming with an offer for the player in the next few weeks.

"He's a prodigy. I don't know how many years he's been playing but he isn't a discovery from yesterday. He's a good player and I've seen in a couple of publications that he could be joining our team. I don't know if that would be the case but if he comes here we'll welcome him the best we can. If he comes here it's because he has the ability to play here, no doubt," said the Barcelona midfielder, who won the player of the Euro 2012 award, in an interview given to sky sports.
