GRIEZMANN WILLING TO TAKE PAY CUT TO STAY AT BARCA
Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann is one of the numerous Barcelona players whose future at the club remain highly uncertain. The France international attacker has already been tipped to leave the club this summer but even though there are reports of a potential swap deal that would see him depart the Camp Nou, it is still unclear whether or not he will be moving this summer. Having been linked with a move to English Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea, Griezmann's stay at Barca looks set to be nearing an end.
The former Atletico Madrid man has also been linked with a return to the Madrid giants and there has been a talk about a swap deal that would see midfielder Saul Niguez move the other way. Barca were said to be interested in making the deal happen, while Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo also confirmed that talks were underway for the transfer deal to happen. However, the talks have broken down in recent days and it has continued to look highly unlikely that the move will actually happen.
Griezmann is one of the highest earners at Barcelona and that's one of the reasons the club want to get rid of him. His high wage demands are also a problem for potential suitors who could be interested in signing him this summer. According to reports from Marca, the attacker has agreed to accept a pay cut in order to remain at the club beyond this summer. He may not be a long-term player at Barcelona anymore but he could still play a bit-part role under Ronald Koeman in the coming season.
The decision is said to be a welcomed one at the club as he nears the final months of his current contract ad a Barcelona player.
