BARCELONA NEED €10M MORE FOR TORRES
New Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez wants to bolster his attack in the upcoming winter transfer window and Manchester City forward Ferran Torres has been identified for the job.
Spanish attacker Torres has shown a good eye for goal plus versatility since Premier League champions Manchester City signed him from La Liga side Valencia. His experience of previously playing in the Spanish league is an added advantage in their pursuit of the player.
Marca is one of the best media outlets on the Spanish football scene and it was recently reported that Barcelona might need to pay as much as €70m to sign the player with Manchester City keen to get as much as possible for the forward. The Catalans’ financial struggles are well documented and they don't have the might to pull off an expensive transfer for the Spaniard.
Journalist Victor Maloshared an update on Barcelona and Torres this week. According to him, Manchester City have dropped the asking price for the Spanish player by €20m. It was stated that they will let the Spaniard leave if a €50m offer is received for him. Barcelona still have to do to meet up with asking price. Club president Joan Laporta and Barcelona officials are still €10m short of what's required to sign Torres.
Torres is presently recuperating from a broken foot which he sustained while representing his country in the UEFA Nations League in October. He has missed almost two months of football action due to the injury. Torres is a versatile attacker who can function well in any of the attacking positions including central striker. Torres has played as a central striker for Manchester City in a lot of games. As a matter of fact, he started this season in that role before he suffered the aforementioned injury.
