BARCELONA’S AWAY GAMES CONTINUES
Barcelona has played four games already in 2022, with two more games to go before January draws to a close. One thing that most people won’t have noticed is the fact that all five games have been away from Barca’s home ground. What’s more shocking is the fact that the remaining two games would also not be played in Camp Nou.
Barce would have to travel to Bilbao in their next encounter in the Copa Del Rey, while the last game for the month would be a league game away at Mendizorroza to play relegation-threatened Alaves.
January has seen Barca travel to Mallorca in a tightly contested 1*0 win that was settled by a first-half strike from frontman Luuk De Jong They traveled to Linares next to face off Linares Deportivo in a round of 32 Copa Del Rey game which they won 2*1 courtesy of a strong second-half showing from Dembele after they have gone down 1*0 in the first half. The league game away at Granada ended in an entertaining draw, with youngster Gabi receiving his first red card in Blaugrana colors. Xavi’s men also had an impressive showing in their game against Real Madrid, though it ended in a disappointing 3*2 loss that saw Barca lose out of a place in the Super cup final. The other game in January which would have seen Barca play at Camp Nou against Rayo Vallecano has been postponed because of an increased number of positive Covid-19 cases in the Basque club.
They would be hosting Athletico Madrid in the Camp Nou on February 6th which would be Barca’s first home game this year. The game would be keenly contested with both teams currently separated by just a point after twenty rounds of league games. It could also see the return of Luis Suarez and Griezmann as both men try to propel Tico to a victory against their former clubs.
