BARCELONA DID THE IMPOSSIBLE!
Barcelona have done the impossible as they upturned a 4-0 deficit to progress to the last eight of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Paris Saint Germain were the favourites to go through after their strong start in the first leg of the encounter, however MSN led the La Liga giants to achieve the impossible!
PSG should bury their heads in utter shame for losing such an advantage against the Spanish side. A confident Barcelona side in Camp Nou played upon their mental fragility. After an early goal by Luis Suarez in only the third minute, Layvin Kurzawa scored an own goal in the 41st minute, helping a side already soaring in confidence.
Immediately after the break, Messi scored a penalty to make it 3-0. The damage had been done, just one more goal to force the game into extra time, then Edison Cavani struck to pull one back in the 62nd minute. This meant Barca required three goals to win the highly competitive duel – a seemingly impossible task.
Neymar contributed his quarter by scoring a brilliant free-kick in the 88th minute to send the fans wild – fans who came with banners and the belief that the team would upturn the result. Minutes later, the Brazilian former skipper converted a penalty kick before Sergi Roberto finished the deed by lifting the ball over PSG keeper Kevin Trapp.
Barca did what no side have done in Champions League history – overturning a four-goal deficit. There have been comebacks against Ipswich Town in the UEFA cup far back in 1978 from 3-0, and another 3-0 deficit against Anderlecht a year later. In the European Cup of 1986, Swedish side Gothenburg had a 3-0 advantage, and then Dynamo Kiev defeated them 3-1 in Ukraine. Chelsea’s defeated them 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in 2000 and AC Milan had a 2-0 edge in 2013. In all of these, Barcelona came back! But nothing is as incredible as this on the 8th of March, 2017.
