Recently appointed ambassador wants to sign Veratti
"Abidal will form a permanent part of the globetrotting veterans team, as well as collaborating with institutional events... assisting with activities related with the FCBEscola soccer schools.
He will always be fondly remembered here at the Camp Nou and it is with great joy that we can now welcome him back to the club in a permanent capacity."
This was the statement released by the Spanish club Barcelona as they announced the addition of former player Eric Abidal as the new ambassador.
Eric Abidal will be representing Barcelona at institutional events along with Ronaldinho who is also serving an ambassador role. Even though Abidal has only recently been added as an official staff member for the club, he has already started to make his presence knows by voicing his thoughts concerning PSG’s Marco Verratti.
Marco Verratti is a 24 year old Italian midfielder who has turned into one of the most highly sought out players during this summer transfer window and Barcelona are rumored to be in the race trying to sign him. Abidal is a firm supporter of Verratti as the former Barcelona defender said that the young rising star has what it takes to perform superbly in Camp Nou.
"I'm sure he has everything to be here. Barça have played many times against PSG and when Verratti did not play you could notice, and when he played you could notice too. He is a top star. Barcelona have to sign him no matter what’’ Recently appointed club ambassador of Barcelona, Eric Abidal said in relation to Marco Verratti who might be signed within the upcoming few weeks.
Barcelona just finished going through an underwhelming campaign after only being able to lift the Copa del Rey during the season of 2016-17 while their rivals Real Madrid won the latest edition of the UEFA Champions League and the La Liga. Barcelona might have to start signing top players in order to not fall further behind Real Madrid.
